| >BMAA no longer to endorse Foot Light Microlight Training - 18 Apr 08 |
Latest
BMAA FLM Training System Announcement
Today the BMAA wrote to all the BMAA FLM Instructors announcing the withdrawal of the BMAA FLM Training System. Some instructors will not receive their notification for several days due to post delay. The intention was to advise the instructors first out of courtesy before the matter was made public. It seems that one or more recipients of the notice have chosen to discuss the move in public and so rather than let speculation and rumour take control we have decided to publish the Announcement and go public.

Cessation of training system (118kb)
17/04/08
It has been brought to our attention that the BMAA are no longer able to endorse a training program for Foot Launch Microlights. They will however continue to sponsor & support present and future foot launch competitions and continue to be the sports representatives to the UK governing body, the CAA.
When we have the full details from the BMAA we will post them on here and also send out an email to all pilots subscribed to our mailing list.
More to follow shortly.... |

| >Save the Red Arrows - 9 Oct 07 |
The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing at the 2012 London Olympics because they are deemed 'too British'.
Organisers of the event say that the Arrows military background might be 'offensive' to other countries taking part in the Games. The display team have performed at more than 4000 events worldwide, but the Department of Culture, Media and Sport have deemed the display team 'too militaristically British'. Red Arrows pilots were said to be 'outraged', as they had hoped to put on a truly world class display for the Games, something which had never been seen before. Being axed from a British-based event for being 'too British' is an insult - the Arrows are a symbol of Britain .
The Red Arrows have been excellent ambassadors for British overseas trade, as they display their British-built Hawk aircraft all over the world.
The Arrows performed a short flypast in 2005 when the winning bid was announced, but their flypast at the Games was to have been truly spectacular.
It is to be hoped that common sense prevails!
If you disagree with this decision, sign the petition on the link http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/RedArrows2012/?ref+redArrows2012
Forward this on to everyone you can.

EASA Proposed Amendment - 12 Oct 06 |
 |
URGENT!
Notice of Proposed Amendment
ASA NPA 06/2006 - Aerodromes
Dear All,
EASA has yet another Notice of Proposed Amendment to its regulations that must be answered this weekend by every microlighter or Paramotor Pilot, particularly those who fly freely from a field or farm airstrip or would wish to in future.
If you want to work through the whole NPA 06/2006 you will find it at:
http://www.easa.eu.int/home/rm_npa_en.html
On the other hand, you may wish to rely on Europe Air Sports delegates
who agreed at Hendon the following response to Question 3 of the NPA:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question 3
Do stakeholders consider that aerodromes, which are not open for
public use, should be subject to Community legislation?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Answer 3
Aerodromes which are not open for public Commercial Air Traffic use
should not be subject to Community Legislation. Those aerodromes
called private aerodromes, airfields or airstrips, should be exempted
from essential requirements and therefore from Community Legislation.
They are used only for sport and leisure aviation. This distinction
should be made clear in the text.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please forward this email with the attached file to every microlight and Paramotor pilot you know and ask him or her to send the response off as soon as possible. It must be received by 16 October at the following email address:
NPA@easa.eu.int
If you receive this email with no file attached you will find a copy
at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/microlights/files/
Or:

Any problems, please contact me.
Many thanks
