Paramotor training in East Anglia

ParamotorsUK is the longest full time established (since 1993) paramotor training school in the UK with their own instructors and superb flying and training site which is located just off the A1/A14 at Brooklands Farm near Alconbury this means getting to and from our flying site is very easy. We fly almost every weekend and in the evenings in the summer months, weather permitting of course!

The ParamotorsUK site is equipped with a club house portacabin where which can be used freely by resident & visiting pilots. A good source of general flying information can be found here, this will enable you to carry out local flights safely and make your visit to ParamotorsUK that much more enjoyable.

Summer is Coming!
Summer is Coming!
ParamotorsUK from the air

A small charge of £7.50 per day will be made to visiting pilots or £10.00 for all weekend, this will ensure the future security of the field and allow us to also have amenities available on site.

Friday of each week on this front page we will publish as to whether we will be flying/training during the coming weekend.
We also have a North/South strip which can accommodate Microlights and GA aircraft with STOL performance. So please keep a good lookout when entering the site.

Latest News & Information for Paramotor Pilots
>ParamotorUK Flying Site Rumours - 29 Feb 12

We have recently learned of rumors on certain internet chat forums and from individuals regarding the future of ParamotorsUK and its present flying site near Alconbury.

The team and I would just like to clarify and put to bed such malicious rumors that ParamotorsUK is NOT closing down and finishing as some have suggested, however the land owner where ParamotorsUK training facility operates from has decided not to renew the annual lease after many and very successful years of operation at the site. Therefore the airfield will no longer be actively used as a training site or Microlight strip from the 1st of April 2012. The relevant aviation authorities, military and mainstream aviation publications have been informed of this subsequent change.

The past 14 years at the present site have provided many happy memories for us all as I am sure it has done so for many Paramotor & Microlight pilots who have attended fly-ins or completed training there. Two National competitions were hosted along with two large charitable fly-in’s in 2005 & 2007, which were used to raise much needed funds for the local air ambulance charity. Plus smaller fly-in’s we have had at the Alconbury site over the years. A big thank you to those who helped and attended these events.

Both ParamotorsUK & Skydragons Leisure Ltd who have successfully shared the facility continue to sell Paramotors and provide Paramotor training, now and in the future.

The new flying site we are currently establishing looks on the face of it to be even better then the existing site. We will post additional info on our website as and when it becomes available. At present we are currently busy with ongoing training of existing and new students along with machine and equipment sales as well as assisting Pilot magazine with an article and photo shoot for Paramotoring, which will be published in next months edition.

So just to reiterate ParamotorsUK IS NOT CLOSING and we continue to operate as we have always done so. Please contact us for all training or Paramotor enquiries.

>AMENDMENT TO THE AIR NAVIGATION ORDER 2009- 11 Apr 10
10 Litre Maximum Fuel tank capacity.

Further to our consultations with the CAA at the beginning of last year we are now pleased to announce that the draft version of
AMENDMENT TO THE AIR NAVIGATION ORDER 2009 has now been published by the CAA. Section 2.4 relates to the removal of the 10 litre maximum fuel capacity rule from the ANO for self propelled hang gliders.

>10 Litre Fuel tank - 16 Jan 09

Further to ParamotorsUK ongoing communication last year and recently with the CAA regarding the 10 ltr fuel tank rule, after it was inadvertantly bought to their attention, we can now announce that the CAA have agreed to the remove the rule from the ANO in due course.

The ANO will be amended at the next reprint and the maximum 10 ltr fule capacity rule will be removed.

Until such time it is suggested that some level marking is provided on the tanks to a volume not exceeding 10 ltrs then the aircraft can remain within the definition by that means.

Thanks must also go to RMH for his letter which undoubtedly helped with regards to the competition side of the ruling enforcement.

>BMAA no longer to endorse Foot Light Microlight Training - 18 Apr 08

BMAA FLM Training System Announcement

Today the BMAA wrote to all the BMAA FLM Instructors announcing the withdrawal of the BMAA FLM Training System. Some instructors will not receive their notification for several days due to post delay. The intention was to advise the instructors first out of courtesy before the matter was made public.  It seems that one or more recipients of the notice have chosen to discuss the move in public and so rather than let speculation and rumour take control we have decided to publish the Announcement and go public.

It has been brought to our attention that the BMAA are no longer able to endorse a training program for Foot Launch Microlights. They will however continue to sponsor & support present and future foot launch competitions and continue to be the sports representatives to the UK governing body, the CAA.

When we have the full details from the BMAA we will post them on here and also send out an email to all pilots subscribed to our mailing list.

More to follow shortly....
